Martin Fakia has been ministering within Aboriginal communities for many years. This is a hard ministry but Jesus still promises ALL power to those that will GO!. Matt28:18-20
Here is a photo of Martin sandwiched by Elder Max and Bro Sam after Bro Sam found Christ as a result of Martin's preaching. In time Bro Sam played a key role in heading up the Aboriginal men's work in Cherbourg Aboriginal community.
It is very exciting to see the result of training come true. Martin Fakia is a committed effective disciple maker to the Solomon Island people. He has had to experience many hardships (malaria, third world conditions and running a ministry with pocket change), to bring the Good News to his people and the Spirit of God has best his efforts with over 300 disciples.
Martin is from the "salt water people". His last name Fakia means "man with fish in mouth". He has given up fishing for fish to fish for men...!!!
During Christmas of 2002, Martin was traveling by canoe to preach at another island village one evening. There was no moon and when he was hit by an unexpected wave and knocked into shark-rich waters. As he swam in the waters, the one thing that came to mind was "where is my Bible? Fortunately that plastic case protected his Bible and after a change of cloth he went on to preach that night. He testifies that it was the most powerful evening on that mission trip.
Please pray for Nadjima (I took a punt at spelling that!). She is a Muslim lady who has approached me about patchwork and quilting lessons. I met her at a community center where she takes young Muslim women through studies on the Koran in their native tongue, Urdu; at the same time we run our quilting group. I have been one of those people that feel negative and sometimes angry about the number of
Muslim people coming to Australia
but God has challenged me. We are so focussed on "going" that we often do not see that God has got them "coming"!! Wow, no raising money for support, learning languages etc... They are coming to our very neighborhoods and are ripe for the harvest. I am starting a beginners program at the end of July for P&Q and would appreciate your prayer for this lady
and my contacts with her as well as for God to bring along others to join this beginners group. Dale & Kerry
Please pray for Scott & Emily (our brother and his wife) as they travel to Zimbabwe
tomorrow for a 3 week mission trip. Please do pray that they will be kept safe as they travel and minister in this country. Thanks fromStu & Vee<
